Its still closed beta so only certain people will get invited for now. I know both Nara and Laune are supposed to get a key for the closed one. The rest of us will have to wait until the open beta.

"Closed Beta" and "Open Beta" are pretty much marketing terms these days without any real meaning. The current Cataclysm Beta is as open as it's going to get. But they'll probably do weekly waves of invites, so no worries if you're not invited yet.

Attacking the battle.net account page with your F5 spell supposedly grants you the chance of looting an invite.

And you need a lot of patience. There are hours and hours of frustrating mini-patches between the installation of the first 2.2 GB and actually being able to play, as each patch rips the mpq files apart which takes ages.

so do you get a email or how do you know if you got in?

If I understood correct they will send you an email notifying you that you've been chosen but there wont be any links. You will then have to login with your battle.net account to download the client etc.
