    10- and 25- man raids in Cataclysm will share the same lockout

    Normal versus Heroic mode will be chosen on a per-boss basis in Cataclysm raids, the same way it works in Icecrown Citadel

    10- and 25- man bosses will be close in difficulty

    10- and 25- man bosses will drop the exact same items

    25-man bosses will drop a higher quantity of loot, but not quality.

Awesome and long overdue stuff so far imho. Cataclysm raiding actually became a whole lot more interesting just there.

Best thing that could have happened as far as I'm concerned. Not only did players grow tired of content artificially simply because they ran the instances more often than they would be "supposed to". They also acquired gear faster, making the lifespan of new content even shorter. Having to decide whether you do 10-man- or 25-man-content is the most reasonable thing to do. Although I personally would still prefer the BC-model where every instance has a fixed size. But I understand why that's a problem from a developer's standpoint.

As for 10-man- and 25-man-content yielding the same loot: Yay, finally a stop to the itemlevel-inflation.

While it all could end horribly of course, at first sight these really seem like needed and sensible changes.

Don't only focus on that specific line. In combination with the same difficulty on both 10- and 25-mans, and the bigger quantity on 25-man, it's well justified imho. Due to the above reason, I agree on the shared lockout.

Hmmmm....a bit miffed on this, clearly i need to comtemplate it more......initial thoughts though:

People will get bored of the raids available as quickly as they currently do - Just running the same place once a week won't change that.

Also brings favorable stats into question - EG. at the mo i'm using a 10m icc wrist and wand because they're the best items to keep me hit capped and there are no hit + haste versions in 25 man. Would they reduce the loot pool to the size of one difficulty or just have 20 different items possibly drop from 1 boss. In the case of the latter, reign of the unliving/DFO/rigormortis syndrome all over again.

A major part of the situation comes from having a comparison in the first place. If - extreme case - all you get is that item that drops in 25man, it's BiS, you use it and you're happy about the upgrade. And you will (read: can) be balanced around that.
If there is another item with a stat that's worth slightly more for you, then you'll want that one. That makes the first item have less value. If the better item isn't there, that's not an issue. It's more complicated if the general itemisation just sucks for "cap me" stats like hit but with more control over the drops due to 10 and 25 sharing loot and the planned stat simplifications that might not be an issue.

I'm all in. Not just regarding the fact, that people are running too often a week into a specific dungeon but also in terms raiding with the guild gets more rewarding in Cataclysm (guild leveling). And in terms of gear modifications (regarding at Unda's concern). Because modifications will it make easier for me to reach a certain cap like hit without having to wait for a specific item to finally drop if I miss a few points.

So yes, I like this change to the raid system quite a big time. And I hope it'll work out just fine - I liked the BC's raiding system best anyways.
